Printmaking Class-
Printmaking is a class designed to teach students the history and purpose of printmaking, advances, historical and current processes, and techniques and materials used. Students will create projects such as: stencil print, cardboard print, linoleum print, woodcut, plaster print, plexiglass etching, collograph, and lithograph prints. Grades 9-12.

Drawing-
Drawing Class is designed for students in grades 9-12 and highly recommended for students who are beginning artists. This class is a the building block for all other art courses. A student will use drawing in all courses as drawing is the bases for all other mediums. The students will learn to shade, use proportions, depth, balance, realism, color theory and more. The students will create finished realistic drawings using various mediums such as prismacolor pencils, ebony pencils, charcoal, ink, and pastels. Students will draw from life settings, figure drawing and proportions from models, portraiture, and scale drawing. Students will learn proper procedures for hanging and displaying art works in art shows.

Ceramics-
Ceramics is a class designed for students in grades 10-12 who like sculpting and building with clay. Students will work with clay to form additive and subtractive sculptures and vessels. Students will learn the history of ceramics and its purpose in history, advances in materials and styles, traditional uses, vocabulary and processes. Students will learn molding, forming, drying, firing, glazing and kiln procedures and safety.

Beginning Art
Mixed Media is a class designed for a beginning artist who would like to explore all mediums in art to find their area of enjoyment and talent. This class offers a sample of all classes offered at avella. The students will create works from classes such as: Drawing, Printmaking, 3D Design/Sculpture, Painting, and Sculpture. Recommended for beginning artists and available to students in grades 9-12

3D Design/Sculpture-
3D Design is a sculpture class designed for students in grades 9-12 and students who like to work with their hands. This class will utilize a variety of mediums to design sculptures. Materials will consist of paper mache, paper, clay, wood, found objects and recycled materials, and connective materials such as various glues, tapes, wires, and hardware.  Students will use a variety of tools and learn proper handling and safety techniques. Students will learn to think creatively and use problem solving skills to complete finished sculptures and assemblages.

Painting-
Painting is a class designed for students in grades 10-12 and students who have already completed a drawing class. Students will learn a variety of painting techniques such as shading, layering, blending, and creating color. They will learn the advantages of various types of paints, thinners and sealers on various srufaces and textures. Students will create paintings on hard and soft canvas, tiles, and found objects and recyled materials. Students will create works in various styles such as realism, abstract, and graffiti.

Studio Art I & II-
Studio Art I & II are advanced art classes offered to students in grades 10-12 and to students who have completed two other 9-12 art courses with a final grade of an A or B. This class allows the students to advance in areas of art they wish to pursue. Students will learn to properly mat and frame their own work and prepare their work professionally for art shows. Students will create a set of goals, record their advancements and processes through a portfolio. The portfolio will contain documentation of their work, photos of their work in several stages, and a description of their work using terminology dedicated to their chosen medium. Students may use their portfolio for job opportunities and/or college scholarships.

Photography (Digital Imaging)-
Photography/Digital Imaging is a class designed to give students the knowledge of capturing and editing images and sharing them with others. Students will learn the camera functions and abilities. Students will learn various techniques such as lighting, shadow, angle, depth, movement, and design. Students will be able to print professional photos, mat and display their work.

Graphic Arts-
Using canva, pixlr, Procreate, dafont and other apps on Ipads to edit photography and create works of art, posters, commercial products, advertisements, business cards, logos, ect. They will learn proper typography, typeface design, branding, color theory, balance and layout formats. They will learn how graphic arts is used in everyday products and advertising. Students will learn how to showcase and exhibit their work. Recommended for students in grades 9-12

Artisan Studies -
(Artisan Studies & entrepreneurship):
Handmade, decorative and functional art created using various mediums such as wood, fabric, textiles, glass, and found objects. Examples include decoupage, woodworking, woodburning, jewelry making, textile dyeing, papermaking, basket making, knitting & crocheting, and other processes used by historical and modern artisans. Students will explore the entrepreneur aspect of being an artisan and learn valuable skills that can contribute to their own success. Students will visit and observe at least one Artisan shop or event. Recommended for students in grades 9-12.
